Anckorage

Presentation and Credits

Alkemiae live session
After his collaboration with Hans Zimmer on Dune 2 and with the vocal ensemble Voces8, Christophe
Duquesne returns with his musical project Anckorage for a truly unique album, recorded live and
acoustically on the resonators of La Voix du Luthier at Alkemiae Studios in western France. Joining him
to complete the trio are two talented musicians: François Astier on keyboards (Osmose by Expressive E)
and Jean-Philippe Duquesne on guitar. Together, they embarked on two days of pure, unfiltered
recording to preserve the raw energy of an intimate performance.

For this old-school recording, the group chose to surround themselves with musicians they’ve
collaborated with for years: Jean-Michel Maurin, Laurent Pelletier, and Guillaume Bonneau, the latter
also handling production and mixing. The mastering, entrusted to Michel Geiss, completes this sonic
journey where every note breathes authenticity.

Inspired by the spirit of classical and jazz ensembles, the album unfolds like a live performance, blending
crafted structures with spontaneous improvisations. Anckorage delivers pieces tailored for the stage,
« musical haikus », an ode to Japanese poetry where emotion is expressed through simplicity and the
present moment. An acoustic journey, far from standardized formats, where music becomes a universal
language, both pure and profound.
